Over the past five years, we've had the pleasure of hosting a wonderful Mature Student Group from France. They join us for a week or even longer, to enhance their English skills while immersing themselves in the culture of our islands. This week is a whirlwind of learning and exploration, with English classes in the mornings and captivating activities and tours in the afternoons.
On their very first day, our group embarked on a journey to Mdina, the historic capital of Malta. Afterwards, they dived into the captivating tale of olive production and consumption in Malta, an insightful narrative shared by Stanley. This unique experience was followed by an olive oil tasting session, accompanied by traditional delights like Ġbejna , Ftira, Kunserva, as well as Wine and Bigilla.
After their morning English courses, the group wouldn't miss a chance to discover more of the islands. They embarked on a full tour of Valletta, the capital city, where they admired the wonders of St. John's Cathedral and delved into the secrets and stories of this ancient fortified city.
For an authentic taste of Maltese cuisine, we organized a traditional Maltese picnic night. Set in the serene Buskett Gardens, the group enjoyed a sumptuous Mediterranean feast surrounded by the sound of birds and the sight of trees. The evening ended well with lively dancing to the groovy tunes of the 70's.
For the more adventurous souls in the group, the following night offered a unique experience with a band club tour. This provided them with a glimpse into one of the essential facets of Maltese traditions, all while engaging in entertaining games and activities.
The group wrapped up their journey with a memorable full-day excursion to the sister island of Gozo. There, they admired the beauty of the archipelago while listening to Gozitan tales. At sunset, they returned to the mainland via a speedboat ride, an unforgettable experience that will stay with them for years to come.
We look forward to welcoming the next mature student group on the islands!
