Malta Vets Rugby Tournament

5th May till 8th May 2023

For many years now, we've successfully hosted the Malta Vets Rugby Tournament, and this time was no exception. Six different teams joined us: The Moravian Eagles, Wasps Amateur, Mountain Ash RFC, Chippenham RFC, Wilmslow RUFC, and Rugby Club Bystrc.

The event kicked off on Friday night with a lively welcome party on a St. Julian's rooftop overlooking the sea. It was the perfect opportunity for all the teams to break the ice, build camaraderie before the competition, and go over the tournament rules with the team captains. It set the stage for an exciting day ahead.

Saturday marked the start of the rugby matches on two different pitches, where all the teams displayed great sportsmanship. Despite the competitive nature of the games, the playing field was remarkably level, with Chippenham emerging as the victors in this 2023 edition. Of course, no rugby event would be complete without the famous "third half." After the games, all the teams came together for drinks, food, and an epic themed party. This year's theme was "Asterix & Obelix," and it was a blast to see all the teams embracing the theme, dressing up, and celebrating through the night in various Maltese cities.

On Sunday, some teams opted for a more relaxed day at their accommodations to recuperate, while others embarked on boat trips or explored the beauty of Gozo.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the team managers, referees, officials, physios, staff, players, and supporters. Without your dedication and enthusiasm, this event wouldn't have been possible. We can't wait for next year's tournament!

The comradery and friendship shared during this event was outstanding. I am a football player but have huge respect for rugby players who give it their all physically on the pitch only to share fun and great respect to one another off the pitch at the end of the game.

I am very fond of this event and the participating teams this year, that came from several different European countries were true gentlemen and helped us run the event in great spirit. On the pitch it was an awesome competition and during the aftermath each team gave his input to jel into the fun events we hosted. Thanks to all for being such great ambassadors for this great sport.
