The Merthyr 16s team arrived in sunny Malta for an exciting rugby tour in great spirit. The group stayed in the north of Malta at the Soreda Hotel, a location known for its comfort and excellent hospitality. Rugby was the primary focus of the trip, but the group also had the chance to explore some of Malta's stunning sights. They visited the island of Comino, where they engaged in thrilling water sports such as jet skiing and banana rides. This adventure added an extra layer of excitement to their tour.
The Merthyr 16s played several rugby games against the Kavallieri U16s team. The main event was a 15s rugby match with aftermatch refreshments and delicious traditional food. Additionally, they enjoyed a 5-a-side beach rugby game on the beautiful beach of Birzebbugia. This match was followed by a friendly 5-a-side rugby game for the parents and some staff members, creating a fun and inclusive atmosphere.
The weekend concluded with a memorable night-time celebration. The group enjoyed a wonderful barbecue by the pool, enjoying delicious food and lively karaoke session right after. This celebration marked the perfect end to an incredible trip.
Overall, the tour was a massive success. The team and their supporters had an unforgettable weekend. We hope they enjoyed the experience as much as we did and look forward to seeing them next year for the youth festival.
This tour highlighted the perfect blend of sports, adventure, and camaraderie, making it an event to remember.
