Valletta, the capital of Malta, holds within its ancient walls a rich tapestry of history, woven intricately with the legacy of the military and charitable Order of St John of Jerusalem. As you walk through its narrow streets and expansive squares, during our Half day Valletta tour you can feel the weight of centuries bearing down upon you, each cobblestone and weathered facade whispering stories of valor, faith, and resilience.
Within the compact confines of just 55 hectares, Valletta proudly boasts an astonishing 320 monuments, a testament to its unparalleled concentration of historical significance. Every corner turned, every alley explored reveals another piece of the puzzle, another chapter in the epic saga of this fortified city.
Our guided tour will take you around the lively streets of the capital. Starting from the gate and the defensive bastions that surround this majestic city, moving on inside by the parliament and old theater. We then proceed with an interesting walk where we can appreciate the capital`s buildings of historical importance including the Order of St John’s Auberges, the palaces in Merchant Street, the Grand Master’s Palace and many more. Next we go to St John`s Co-Cathedral that brims in riches with its contrasting decorated interior and also holds an impressive display of Baroque art, including the acclaimed Caravaggio painting that is on display in the Oratory of this opulent Cathedral. Finally, we will take a short break at Barrakka Gardens, also built by the Knights, to appreciate breath-taking views of the Grand Harbour and the fortified Three Cities, as well as a canon shot from the saluting battery.
Should you seek to add an extra layer of intrigue to your experience, an optional Treasure Hunt through the labyrinthine streets of Valletta can be arranged, enriching your exploration with a dash of adventure and discovery, all at no additional cost.
